2024 has been about openness—an intentional shift toward exploring new ways of thinking, doing, and being. It’s also been a year of learning, leaning into vulnerability, embracing the discomfort of growth, and trusting that real change begins when I allow myself to be open, imperfect, and honest. Two of the biggest influences on this journey have been Nutrivore and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Feeling Good
Excited about the new awareness and skills to support the growth , I am learning to find balance - being patient and gradually putting the knowledge into practice.
After a deep, introspective 2023 spent searching for joy and reflecting on what brings fulfillment, I’ve shifted away from external expectations. Now, it’s all about finding purpose from within.
Redefining Nutrition
Nutrition has been a long-time focus for me, especially after achieving remission from Ulcerative Colitis (UC) years ago. During that time, I dedicated myself to finding the best way to heal, and I discovered how transformative proper nourishment can be.
But in the chaos of the 2020 pandemic and my transition into menopause, I lost sight of the basics. I got caught up chasing the “shiny objects” of the dietary world—complicated approaches that promised results but left me feeling overwhelmed.
This year, I’ve reconnected with the fundamentals: listening to my body, honouring its needs, and letting go of judgment. Whether it’s adjusting my eating window, prioritizing rest, or moving my body, I’ve found clarity in simplicity. Guided by Dr. Sarah Ballantyne’s Nutrivore philosophy—a simple yet powerful movement that invites us to seek nutrients from food without judgment, focusing instead on nourishment—her passion inspired me to ask:
What other elements nourish the mind, body, and spirit?
Building Habits That Align
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) has been instrumental in helping me reframe unhelpful thinking patterns and replace them with self-compassion and curiosity. Reevaluating my relationship with food opened my eyes to how I approach other areas of my life. Instead of forcing myself into someone else’s framework, I’ve learned to explore what truly works for me. It’s no longer about chasing perfection but about building sustainable habits that are adaptable and aligned with where I am right now. Trusting my body again has been a deeply empowering process. By letting go of judgment and tuning in to my intuition, I’m embracing an evolving relationship with food and wellness—one that values self-compassion over rigid expectations.
